At last week's KPFT LAB meeting it was announced that Program Director Edmundo Resendez would be leaving KPFT to take on a position at New Hampshire Public Radio. Mary Ramirez, who is currently KPFT's Music Director, will temporarily be filling in as Program Director. KPFT now has two openings: News Director and Program Director. KPFT has actively been seeking a News Director only since June 2000, despite the fact that they have been without one for over four years. Garland Ganter, KPFT General Manager, stated at last week's meeting that a candidate for the position of News Director did come forward and at the last minute decided not to take the job due to personal reasons.

Professor George Reiter, former host of the program 'Thresholds' attended the meeting, and was acknowledged by Ganter who stated that 'after Edmundo left' he would continue discussions with Prof. Reiter about the possibility of his returning as host of 'Thresholds'.

Currently we are beginning the work of establishing an Independent Media Center in Houston. We will be attempting to educate people through this medium on various Pacifica issues hopefully in time for the Pacifica National Board Meeting which is to be held in Houston in March 2001.
