Narrated by Alice Walker. "This film is an extremely moving, historically vital chronicle of one of this country’s few authentic community media outlets." DNC Protests - Much organizing is going on in Los Angeles in preparation for the forums and protests against the Democratic National Convention in August. With the number of issues people will be protesting in contingents -- from globalization to the criminal injustice system -- are there activists coming to Los Angeles who would like to focus their protest on Pacifica? You can find out more about what will be happening in August and when at www.d2kla.org. Two obvious plug-ins would be the Mumia march on Sunday 8/13 and the Mass March on "Human Need Not Corporate Greed - March for Our Lives" on Monday 8/14. To give us an idea of how many Savepacificans are coming to LA and what they are interested in, i.e., march/rally, direct action, conference/forum, IMC/stringers, etc., please contact Tracy Larkins with a brief message of your ideas, dates and intentions -- e-mail lark2@mindspring.com or phone 310/859-1031.

A Meeting of KPFA Listener-activists - is now taking place on the first Sunday of each month in Marin County. This meeting followed an invitation from North Bay for KPFA to activists from the Bay Area counties. Now, with the fourth month of the expanded meeting scheduled for July 2nd, a strong group has emerged. At the June meeting David Green, LAB election coordinator, presented the plan, which has been developed for elections, and the organization needed to make these elections a success. Listeners from both Marin and Sonoma Counties have begun to plan for local nomination meetings. The July meeting will take place, as do all first Sunday meetings, at the Social Justice Center of Marin, in San Anselmo, at 1000 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. from 6-10pm. The agenda will include more about the LAB elections, reports and discussion on the latest Pacifica Board meeting and a discussion of the ongoing national organizing work. Other topics can be added at the start of the meeting and it is open to all listeners, supporters and friends of KPFA radio.
