Bush) Constitution of the United States - Article I, Section 9: "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it." Attorney General Gonzales: Habeas Corpus NOT guaranteed by US Constitution Here is a sample of Gonzales' mind numbing logic: "There is no express grant of habeas in the Constitution. There's a prohibition against taking it away. ..." On September 28, 2006, the Bush controlled U.S. Senate shamed itself in passing the Military Commissions Act of 2006, betraying centuries of human thought, struggle and wisdom. Torture has been "legalized," and Habeas Corpus -- a foundation principle of free peoples everywhere -- has been pounded by thugs.
