To To the Countess Josephine Deym
Vienna, Autumn, 1804

Anderson v1 pg117-118 - letter #97

I myself did not know yesterday that I should be able to satisfy your longing for something new; -- the second sonata in this work which I am sending you herewith is new. So far no one in Vienna has it. So I must earnestly beg you not to give it to anyone. For, if so, it might fall into the hands of a Viennese publisher.; and the publisher who has produced it might thereby suffer some loss -- All my best greetings to Count Franz -- It is impossible for me to write to him today -- Tomorrow early in the evening I shall certainly be able to have the pleasure of being in your and Charlotte's company -- All good wishes dear kind Countess --

                                                            Your most devoted
                                                                                     Beethoven
