To the Countess Josephine Deym
Vienna, 1805

Anderson v1 pg142-143 - letter #125

Lest the dearest person -- the dearest to me in this world -- should cherish even a thought about me which should be futile -- I say that -- this evening I must remain invisible -- My dear L[ichnowsky] is leaving tomorrow -- In spite of many rough passages which we are encountering on the path of this friendship, yet now that he is leaving Vienna I feel how dear he is to me -- and how much I owe him -- I need Florian's comedies -- Tomorrow evening I shall see my dear, my beloved J[osephine] -- Tell her that to me she is far more dear and far more precious than anything else --

NB. These lines were already written before I received your letter --

Now I need the Sonata in A as well. [Anderson footnote: "Probably the Kreutzer sonata, Op. 47."] I must play it for my L[ichnowsky] as a parting gift -- All good wishes, angel -- of my heart -- of my life --
