To Baron Ignaz von Gleichenstein, Vienna
Baden, June 23, 1807

Anderson v1 pg171-172 - letter #146

Dear kind G[leichenstein]!

You didn't come yesterday - But in any case I should have to write to you today - After Schmidt's diagnosis I must not stay here any longer - So I beg you to take the matter up at once with Industriekomtor. When it comes to bargaining, well, you can - hand that over to my brother the chemist - But as the matter itself is of some importance and as hitherto you have always acted for me in my dealings with the Industriekomtor, for several reasons we cannot make use of my brother for that purpose. Here are a few lines on the subject for the Industriekomtor - If you come to Baden tomorrow, arrange for me to drive back to Vienna with you - All good wishes. I am fond of you; and even though you may condemn all my actions - which you consider from a wrong point of view, yet you cannot outdo me in that respect - Perhaps West can come with you -- --

                                                                         Your
                                                                                Beethoven
