Vienna, November, 1808

Anderson v1 pg201-202 - letter #181

I am not coming to the meeting, since in the present circumstances there is nothing to do or to suggest - Take my advice and on each occasion have two symphonies performed - that is better than having bits and pieces - and preferable to the very mediocre singing - tace - When we meet I will explain why I did not come to the musical performance yesterday - And I will then tell you that if I have to experience a repetition of what happened at the rehearsal on Saturday, nobody will ever persuade me to have anything more to do in the slightest way with this unfortunate concert -

                                                            Wholly your
